A primary part of the Collections ELD suite, the Language Workshop provides differentiated instruction to English Language Learners. It is a systematic program that coincides with the core instruction and is designed to be utilized at specific times when developing English language skills is the point of concentration. The Teacher Guide and Workshop Resources are used in tandem to supplement the core materials. Each Language Workshop lesson is segmented into five different daily instructional activities and features instruction targeting three levels of academic proficiency: Emerging, Expanding, and Bridging. These proficiency levels align with multiple systems of proficiency level designation, including WIDA.

Do I Have A Right? by iCivics

The lesson was created with all students in mind, including English Language Learners. The game is designed for middle school civics education, but high school teachers may find it appropriate for their students as well. The objectives are for students to identify rights guaranteed by the Bill of Rights and the 13th, 14th, 15th, 19th and 26th Amendments. Students need to recall the amendments that guarantee particular rights and recognize complaints that are protected under them. The support materials help teachers instruct students on constitutional law and present Tier 3 vocabulary terms. iCivics provides built-in supports in the game as well as additional scaffolds in the ELL Extension Pack to make the lesson accessible to a wide array of learners.

Speak Agent Online Academic Language Learning Solution - Speak Agent

The Speak Agent online academic language learning solution employs the Academic Language Learning Model (ALLM) to build academic language in three progressive stages: reading fluency, isolated comprehension, and integrated comprehension. The tool provides games and activities to familiarize students with target words to improve decoding. Students learn to recognize words and analyze their traits and relationships using semantic mapping and other tools. Students who engage with the Speak Agent online tool are expected to demonstrate ability to apply language creatively in academic and discourse contexts and in multiple contexts.
